The Shift is a bold and ambitious science fiction thriller that reimagines the biblical Book of Job as a modern-day multiverse adventure. Kevin Garner, a man of quiet faith, meets a mysterious and powerful figure known only as The Benefactor — a chilling, otherworldly antagonist who disrupts Kevin's reality and sends him hurtling across alternate dimensions. Separated from Molly, the love of his life, Kevin must navigate a dystopian parallel world while resisting The Benefactor's seductive offers of wealth, power, and comfort. The film blends sci-fi thriller elements with deeply personal themes of faith, loyalty, and the cost of moral compromise. Originally conceived as a 21-minute short film by writer-director Brock Heasley, the story was expanded into a feature that challenges audiences to consider what they would sacrifice — and what they would refuse to give up — when faced with infinite choices and impossible odds. The film grossed $11.7 million at the domestic box office.

As a non-Christian I thought the film was awesome and I want to encourage others to go out and see it in theaters so Angel Studios develops itself into a more powerful force in the feature film industry. We need this change. Audiences are getting sick and tired of vapid storytelling with no heart.

I don't think this movie deserves the low reviews it's getting based on people who cannot entertain the Christian/spiritual themes of the movie. I found it to be a refreshing take on sci-fi and overall social commentary that leaves you thinking about the world we live in today. Overall it's better than a lot of other movies being made nowadays with bigger budgets and cast. Once again I'm really impressed with what Angel Studios has achieved.

I am so glad I went to see this movie in the theater. It's deep, impactful, and has stuck with me for days. I'm not necessarily a sci-fi or faith movie fan, and you don't need to be to enjoy this movie. If you want to see a real, heartfelt, well-made film this year, don't miss this one.
