Pastor Bonhoeffer was indeed a mid-century hero, and this film presents him as such. The movie does a credible job of portraying his deep faith and dedication to the anti-Nazi struggle which ultimately cost him his life.

Nonetheless, it's a rousing tribute to one of Germany's most admirable war heroes.

Given a passionate portrayal by Jonas Dassler, Dietrich makes a personal journey that takes him from conventionality to rebellion to insurrection to assassination.

In the lead role, Dassler gives a fierce, passionate, empathetic performance that continuously draws viewers back in.

It was captivating to understand this is a true story and to see how people survived or thought what they should do to survive. Witnessing how hard it was to stand up for what was right versus the possibility of being persecuted.

While the film feels a bit over-produced, it's also a riveting story that bristles with urgent themes.

This riveting drama based on a true story — I loved it. Angel Studios has been knocking it out of the park with their recent films. Jonas Dassler did an excellent job as Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

Bonhoeffer is a movie with an important message for the United States in 2024. The importance of standing up to the forces of evil, repression, hatred, discrimination and fascism cannot be said loudly or often enough. The film does a credible job of portraying his deep faith, the fervor of his Christian convictions, and his dedication to the anti-Nazi struggle which ultimately cost him his life. Pastor Bonhoeffer was indeed a mid-century hero, and this film presents him as such.

The acting was strong and the writing was good. The actor portraying Bonhoeffer avoided the cliché perfect hero and showed the weakness of a man suffering for a hopeless cause. 8/10 — this is much better than the press.

Stunning movie about faith and giving up everything to stand up against evil for what's right, no matter the cost. One of the best movies I've seen this year.
